The Peabody Memorial Chapel, with its original working pipe organ, hosts many of the spiritual activities on campus. Led by our staff Director of Spiritual Life Services or one of numerous community religious leaders, services are held on a regular schedule and conducted in the tradition of various denominations. Because our primary in-house worship service is conducted on Sunday afternoon, many residents enjoy returning to their home congregation for morning worship. Peabody staff and resident families routinely join the congregation of any given service. Please join us on Sunday at 2PM. Worship service lasts an average of 1 hour. A mid-week worship service affectionately called "Devotions" is held on Thursday mornings at 9 O'clock. The focus of the service is the Job and Shawchuck book A Guide to Prayer.
Bible reading and study is a favorite activity at Peabody Retirement Community. Every Monday morning, a local community member holds a Bible study for independent and assisted living residents. This class runs from September through May and lasts about one hour. Additionally, our "Bible in Depth" program for residents of health care is held every Tuesday and as the name suggests, is an in-depth study of a single topic using various resources, books and literature from renowned scholars. On Thursdays, a more traditional Bible study is held where we progress through the books of the Bible verse by verse.
For more information about the Spiritual Life Services available to residents of Peabody Retirement Community and the North Manchester community at large, please phone our main switchboard and ask for the Director of Spiritual Life Services. |
